Planning Camp
3-5 February 2013
The Eden project is running a ‘planning camp’ in Bristol at the Watershed.
Planning Camps are aimed at community members of Neighbourhood Planning groups, who lack professional planning experience and who want to draw up Neighbourhood Development Plans, and those groups that are Neighbourhood Planning Front Runners.

Permitted development rights relaxation consultation – clarification
The BCC enforcement team has indicated that Class C4 (small HMO) would not benefit from the extended permitted development limit as HMO’s do not fall under the definition of ‘dwellinghouse’
The Bristol Local Plan update
This is an update on the preparation of the Bristol Local Plan – the set of planning documents to guide future development decisions. The Local Plan was previously called the Bristol Development Framework.
Core Strategy
The Core Strategy is the overall approach to planning development in Bristol. It was adopted in June 2011.
Site Allocations and Development Management
This will provide planning policies for specific sites, identifying those which can be developed and those which should be protected from development. It will also include detailed policies used to decide planning applications.
Earlier this year the council consulted on the Preferred Approach document.
888 separate comments were received from 335 respondents, together with three petitions.
Next steps
The comments received are being used to shape the Publication Version of the Site Allocations Plan. This is the last stage of the Plan’s preparation before it is submitted for examination by an independent planning inspector.
Comments will be invited which will be considered by the Inspector.
It is expected that the Publication Version will be released in early 2013. Feedback will be provided on how the comments received during consultation have been addressed.
Bristol Central Area Plan
This will guide development in the centre of the city. Consultation on the Bristol Central Area Plan Options document took place in early 2012 alongside a consultation on the City Centre Public Realm and Movement Framework. 535 separate comments were received from 106 respondents. A summary of these comments is now available on the City Council website.
Next steps
Comments on the Options document are being used to help prepare the Publication Version of the Bristol Central Area Action Plan. This is expected to be released in Spring 2013.
